More model informationThis red earthenware pie plate is decorated with a white clay slip under a clear lead glaze. The plate was formed around a curved mold to allow the baked pie to be slipped from the plate onto a serving dish. The pies were never cut in the pie plate because the knife could easily break the lead glazed interior. Pie plates of this type were made in many potteries, even small local potteries, between 1725 and 1875. Excavated from Hampton Plantation State Historic Site, McClellanville, South Carolina.
Made with Artec Space Spider by David Hansen.
