More model informationLeft forearm with bundle of lightning. The lightning bolt and the double axe were the traditional attributes of the Baal of Doliche in Commagene. Among the Romans, the Semitic mountain and sky deity was equated with Iuppiter, the father of the gods, who, as ruler of the sky and the weather, also held the lightning bundle and the thunderbolt. The fragment of a tinned bronze statuette of the god on the bull was found in the Dolichenum of Carnuntum, where both civil and military circles donated. Brone, tin-plated; l 11 cm; 2nd century AD.
