Hand Plane (smoothing)

This hand plane has gone through many iterations over several months to become what it is. The plan of this design was to create a tool that can be made with basic woodshop equipment, or be CNC milled. After assembly the plane is functional but bulky and awkward, the user then shapes the plane until the hand fits comfortably. The smoothing plane can be an incredible tool, often preventing the need for sanding. Having an alternative to the expensive planes on the market that can be handcrafted opens the ability to use the tool to many beginner woodworkers as both a beginner project and having a functional end product.
