More model informationIn each finger, there are two flexor tendons that run from the forearms and through the wrist to attach to the middle and distal phalanges:
1) the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) 2) the flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS)
These FDS allows us to curl and flex our fingers at the middle phalanx by the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint, while the FDP flexes the fingertips at the the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint.
The annular pulleys (A1-A5) are bands of ligaments that wrap the flexor tendons around the fingers to keep them close to the bones, and helps our fingers to flex properly.
