I had lots of fun making the model, and only intended it to be a short exercise, but this small project evolved into quite the journey. The challenge came when I started baking high to low normals for some of the more complicated objects such as the central reed piece, screws, and bolts. The majority of the modeling was done in Maya, though adjustments were made in Blender for baking. The texturing was completely done in Substance Painter. There was a lot of back and forth between each software until the normals were just right, which is what took the most time. I learned a bunch but now it is time to move on.
