The Harpy is an anti-radiation loitering munition developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), designed to autonomously detect, home in on, and destroy radar-emitting targets. Functioning as a one-way attack drone, it combines the capabilities of a cruise missile and a UAV, making it ideal for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) missions. The navalized Harpy has a range of over 550 km and can be launched from surface vessels, enabling it to serve in an anti-ship role or support maritime strike operations. It can be deployed in swarms to overwhelm enemy defenses. The Harpy uses a passive radar seeker to detect and lock onto hostile radar emissions, while an integrated electronic warfare suite can jam or degrade enemy radar systems in flight. It can also act as a decoy, emitting signals that mimic the electronic signature of a much larger aircraft to confuse air defenses. Each Harpy carries a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead, enabling it to engage radar systems and lightly armored targets.
