A carved rock known as the “Haystack” on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire, England.

This large boulder which measures 5.3m x 3.5m x 1.7m sits close to Pancake Ridge and the stones apex and northern upper face has a number of distinct cup marks with an odd ring or two. There’s an abundance of prehistoric remains in the vicinity, including denuded walling and other carved rocks. A number of hollow also cut into the landscape down to lower ground to the north. Being the most prominent natural feature on this section of moorland, the stone attracts visitors, many who feel compelled to climb it. Sadly, that also includes those who choose to add graffiti.
