Hazreti Suleyman Mosque is an important part of Diyarbakir’s historical and cultural heritage. It is an important place to visit for both locals and tourists. It was built in the 12th century during the Seljuk period. The stones used in its construction were made from volcanic rocks in the region. In the courtyard of the mosque are the tombs of 27 “sahabe”, people who lost their lives during the capture of the city by the Islamic armies.
