Headless Air Motor 3D Model
Conceptual mock-up of an expansion style air-motor. In this case it uses a rotating disk valve attached to the crank for timing, and pressurized air is admitted on the crankcase side of the piston to push it outwards. Thus this motor should be fairly simple to produce. Note that it’s intended to be made from self-lubricating materials, as the supplied air driving the mechanism should be the only blow-by.
No head as with usual piston motors, but there is a cross-bar on the piston sleeve to retain the piston if one of the connecting components fails. (Those aren’t pictured at the moment, but I may add them later.)
