Huencú Nazar is an open-air archaeological site associated with a small shallow lake and located in the pampean region of Argentina; S35º56‘44.4”, W62º43‘46.9” (Scheifler et al. 2017). The site was occupied by hunter-gatherers during the Late Holocene. One of the main features of Hencú Nazar is the presence of 22 combustion structures that were defined as domestic hearth. These structures have an elliptical morphology with different dimensions and have a concave base. These hearths are mainly filled with Lama guanicoe bones which have thermal alteration, anthropic fractures and cut marks. A radiocarbon date on a metapodium of this species from the Hearth N°5 yielded an age of 3000 ± 43 years AP (AA-105969; δ13C: -17.1). Proyecto: Investigaciones Arqueológicas en el Partido de Trenque Lauquen (Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina). Director: Lic. Nahuel A. Scheifler (INCUAPA-CONICET).
