More model informationThere are several monuments along the border with the Czech Republic that commemorate the expulsion of the German-speaking population from South Moravia on the basis of the Benes Decrees. The Heimatdenkmal, built as a lookout tower, was built in 1980 according to designs by Hans Krappel. The central stone figure depicts a mother in everyday South Moravian costume, protectively embracing her children. The bronze plaques on the viewing platforms designate the former 94 local communities of the Znojmo district.
