More model informationNot much is written about the 90 ft scow schooner Helen. It was built in 1881 by Wolf and Davidson in Milwaukee and was driven ashore and sank during a storm in 1886 enroute to Chicago with a cargo of what appears to be Iron ore. Although the wreck occurred scarcely one-hundred yards from shore, all five or six of the crew perished in the tragic wreck event. Although the Helen was not documented to be of composite construction, it appears the hull was constructed with steel or iron channel frames interspersed every two or three wood frames. It does make the wreck unique for a not-very-exciting shipwreck site. The model was created from 1,225 30-megapixel images shot by Andrew Goodman on one DPV dive in the 2025 season.
