More model informationA badly-bent pewter spoon recovered from the wreck of the 1700 English slave ship Henrietta Marie is covered with calcareous concretion, bits of coral, and shells. The covering formed on the spoon as part of the underwater corrosion process. Careful inspection reveals that a few small glass “seed” beads are also trapped in the spoon’s concretion. A fully-conserved example of a similar Henrietta Marie spoon can be seen here: https://skfb.ly/69wQN.
