More model informationA pewter bottle from the 1700 slave ship Henrietta Marie roughly mimics the shape of glass bottles of the era. It is 19.4cm tall, 14.3cm dia. at the base, and holds slightly more than a quart of liquid. Judging from the style of the mouth, it was originally sealed with a cork or wood plug. Bottles like this are quite rare in the history of pewter vessels, but twenty-one examples have been found on the Henrietta Marie wreck site. With such a large number, these bottles were almost certainly part of the ship’s trade cargo.
