In green: the three primary bones of the left leg of the endemic New Zealand large parrot Kākāpō (Strigops habroptilus).

In red: the left tibiotarsus (shin bone) of the extinct giant New Zealand parrot Heracles inexpectatus (holotype). Home Hills Station, Otago, New Zealand.

Digital bone replicas from by Flinders University Palaeo Lab from specimen intended to be accessioned into Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa collection and specimen in Auckland War Memorial Museum collection. (Specimens S.51083 & L5 respectively).
