Casement 21 – Governor’s Fore Room – This highly decorative room is where the Governor conducted siege response and war council meetings. During the late 18th Century this room became quarters for the St. Augustine artillery company. Walls in this room were brightly colored with alternating half circles of red and yellow frescoes. Our 3D scanning and photographic documentation shows more clearly how these walls were decorated, and how they were covered with a whitewash and color band designs using iron oxide red and ochre yellow pigments in a plaster known as argamasa.
