Hieron II Coin (III sec. b.C.) 3D Model
Born in 308 BC, approximately, Hieron was the illegitimate son Hierocles noble who claimed to be a descendant of Gelo, tyrant of Syracuse in the fifth century B.C. .; because of his origins, his father did not want to recognize him but was persuaded by some omens that the newborn would have a glorious future. This copper alloy coin has been found by chance during the construction of the foundations of a house and is to be considered a completely accidental find. Found near a small town in the Syracuse area.
