The Marian column, also known locally as the “Ratschenkreuz” (rattle cross), consists of a square pillar on which the figure stands. The column was erected in 1726 and renovated in 1961–1962. The Marian column owes its current name to a Holy Week tradition: since the 1950s, it has served as a gathering place for the Ratschenbuben (rattle boys), where the monument is decorated and the custom of ratschengehen (rattling) begins or ends. As a result, the name “Ratschenkreuz” has become firmly established in local usage.
