Statue of the Virgin Mary with child at the Marienbründl in Groißenbrunn.
On the occasion of a pilgrimage to a cross near the village, the inhabitants of Groißenbrunn discovered a spring in 1718 that was said to have healing powers. A chapel was then built, to which the first pilgrimage took place on 4 May 1719. In 1769, it was decided to demolish the chapel because it was too expensive to maintain. In 1848, a new chapel was built at the spring. In 1945, the building suffered severe damage and was demolished in 1969 due to dilapidation. In the same year, the rectangular pond in front of the spring was dredged and the banks were redesigned. A statue of the Virgin Mary made of granite by the sculptor Carl Hermann was erected above the spring.
