More model informationThe mighty Hood began construction during the first world war as part of the new admiral class battlecruisers for the Royal Navy. Hood was the lead ship of her class, with the remaining admiral class ships Nelson, Rodney, Anson and Howe being eventually cancelled. Upon commissioning into the Royal Navy in 1920 Hood was the largest warship in the world, a title she would hold until the commisioning of the Bismarck in 1941. Hood, at a length of 262 meters, would remain the longest ship ever built by the United Kingdom until the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers finally took that title in 2017.
