This is one of my favorite sectors in Iceland!
Full of short and hard routes. Here you can find classics like Tívolí 5.12b, Öræfabúggí 5.12a, Páskaliljur 5.6, Janus 5.10a (the first bolted route in Hnappavellir) and many others. The single route furthest to the right is Kamarprobbinn 5.14a and it’s the hardest route in Iceland. Recently there was a new route climbed and the grade of 5.13d or 5.14a was purposed, so it might be shared if the grade is confirmed.
This sector is by the campsite (private property, for climbers only) an is in the sun in the mornings. This makes Miðskjól perfect for warmup routes after brekfast.
I flew the drone on a very sunny day (not the best for photogrammetry) and managed to get two short flights on batteries that were not fully charged. In the end I only got 60 photos or so and Meshroom tried to make the sky a part of the model. I will redo this model in much higher quality the next time I’m in Hnappavellir with coludy skies and full batteries. In the mean time, enjoy this!
