シャコガキ / Honeycomb oyster

カキの仲間でも特に大型だが、蜂の巣状の殻構造のために比較的軽い。殻の腹縁がギザギザに波打っているのが特徴。奄美群島以南の熱帯インドから西太平洋、水深30ｍ以浅の岩礁底に棲息する。

Among oysters, it is particularly large, yet relatively light due to its honeycomb-like shell structure. Its characteristic feature is the jagged, wavy edge along the ventral margin of the shell. It inhabits rocky reef bottoms in shallow waters less than 30 meters deep, from tropical India south of the Amami Islands to the western Pacific Ocean.
