Title: Horn Cup (뿔잔 / 角杯) Period: 5th–6th Century, Three Kingdoms Period (Gaya)
Description A horn cup is a vessel made by attaching a horn-shaped cup onto a stand decorated with figures of animals, such as deer or horses. The tip of the horn cup is often curled in a fern-like shape, giving it an exotic feel.
These cups are primarily found in ruins along the Nakdong River basin, including areas like Gyeongju, Gimhae, and Busan, dating back to the Three Kingdoms period. Given their curved pedestal shapes, they are presumed to have been crafted in the Gaya Kingdom. It is believed that these vessels were used for pouring wine or water during important rituals and ceremonies.
