This point cloud model shows the Parramatta CBD with chromatic (colourmap) values extracted from an airborne-based thermal infrared (TIR) image collected by Parramatta City Council on a hot summer day in February 2013. Point clouds chromatic values represent hot land surface temperatures (LST) in red (max. 70°C) and cool LST in blue (min 15°C).
Thermal values (in Celcius degrees) from the GeoTiff image were interpreted into a three-bands (R-G-B) GeoTiff image using ArcGIS. RGB values where then assigned to point clouds using LASTools in QGIS and later manipulated in Cloud Compare.
