I’m in no way an advanced 3D user, but I figured it’d be fun to show one of the first big projects I did a little after I began my 3D journey.
This was a challenge given to me by my “mentor” at the time. One of many concept of medieval-like housing you may find on pinterest or other such sites.
One of the main lessons that I was being taught - and arguably the most annoying bit of this challenge - was to model everything attached together.
This means no blocking it out with individual pieces and just CTRL - J at the end. Instead, there was a lot of loop cuts, Knife tool, amongst other things. Moreover, I also had to guarantee that I had no ngons in my mesh.
It was quite frustrating, because I had just come out of watching tutorials where the artists were just using different primitives without any concern if they were all attached at the end.
In short, a long, harduous, annoying, but ultimately a great learning and satisfying experience.
