1917 Howitzer Artefact found in the Solent Channel. This is associated with the Serrana shipwreck. There are various makers marks, identification marks, and service marks along the length of the artefact, starting with How. 1917 on one face, identifying the make and year of the overall gun itself. The EOC on the same face signifies that this was created by the Elsewick Ordnance Company, likely working with the British government to manufacture these weapons for World War I. The EOC label ws reserved only for the guns made for the British government. The arrow seen on the model shows that this Howitzer has passed inspection and is suitable to be on a vessel. The l. seen after the HOW mark indicates that this is a light model of the gun, rather than an ‘H’ for heavy. Finally, the BL indicates that this was a breech loading howitzer, with 75mm ammunition.
This model was created with the photogrammetry workflow in Artec Studio 19 by Carley Divish.
