It is also named in some documents as Fuente de la Charca de Húmera. Its name comes from being on the road that went to Húmera. It is the source that we have news of, the oldest in the Casa de Campo, since it is cited before the source was inside the estate. The version that has come down to us is that of a spring that is fed by a mine excavated on the Barranco de las Ánimas. There are still ruins that show a door that gave access to a well, in the Civil War of 1936-39 this mine was used as a refuge and water supply for the rebel troops, from this source and through a gasoline pump they were filled the cisterns that supplied drinking water to the national troops in the Plazuela de Siete Hermanos, which was known as the Plazuela del Agua.
