Hunt Museum -Wine Strainer - HCA 678 3D Model
This strainer is thought to be Roman. It is dated from the 2nd Century AD. It is made from sheet-bronze with a long handle which ends in a crescent-shaped opening designed for hanging. The holes in the strainer are arranged in linear and circular patterns. The hanging detail is derived from two swanlike birds placed back to back, as seen in other examples from Herculaneum. Other examples from Pompeii and Herculaneum provide stylistic comparisons for the 1st century AD. more details
