Hunters Hill Stone (also known as Thornton Standing Stone), Glamis, Angus, Scotland.
A roughly dressed stone, standing 1.5 metres high. One side has a deeply incised serpent above which lightly incised is an (animal facing right), below the serpent is possibly a mirror but the rock is too eroded/worn to clearly see. On the other side is a crossed carved in light relief, filled with interlace patterns, around the cross are various creatures. Top left corner on the cross side is an angel (a better preserved example can be seen on Eassie Cross Slab), Top right is a human figure with a birds head. Below the arms of the cross are some animals, near the base of the stone are some symbols- a disc and a horseshoe/arch/collar.
Today this stone stands beneath trees in a late 19th century plantation, an iron fence closely surrounds the stone. The stone has a good layer of moss and lichen blurring some of the carving.
