Huntersquoy is a Neolithic Orkney-Cromarty type chambered round cairn. It was excavated by C. S. T. Calder in 1936 and shown to have two contemporary superimposed chambers; Taversoe Tuick on Rousay is the only other ‘double-decker’ tomb in Orkney. The cairn has been heavily robbed and little survives of the upper tripartite chamber and cairn. The Bookan-type lower chamber survives intact but is often filled with 1m of water. It could not be 3d modelled at the time of the visit.
Finds from the cairn were donated to ther National Museums Scotland by Major H H Hebden, Carrick House, Eday in 1938.
