The Hutzler’s Palace opened on September 17, 1888 as the “largest and most elegant department store structure in Baltimore’s retail center” (MHT). The architecture is a combination of Art Deco and Romanquese. It was designed by Edwin F. Baldwin and Josiah Pennington. The retail store located on 210-218 North Howard Street gained a reputation as one of Baltimore’s most luxurious shops. It closed it’s doors in 1981 for renovation, but three decades later is a “server farm” run by AiNET.
