More model informationRemnants of an old WW2 signals station can be found on Ibsley Common. Although originally set up as part of Middle Wallop airfield direction finding assets, it was reallocated to Ibsley airfield in the early 1940s. During the 1950s/60s a beacon here guided international air traffic.
The HF-DF blast wall, accomodation block foundations, bunker and a cable trench to the centre post still remain today. The following link gives more information about this site and its resident ginger tom cat -
