Hopefully, as 3D printing becomes more accurate and cheaper, the exhange process will turn from having to physically mail or bring with you plaster casts to sending each other a file to 3D print! However, plaster casts still have 3D printers beat in terms of accuracy to the original. I don’t see this vision coming true until we can figure out how to make 3D scanners a lot more accurate and a lot less “blocky” in their printing patterns.
