More model informationThe collection of the Gipsformerei comprises 112 teaching models of human faces and body parts. They were produced at the plaster casting workshop of the Kun-stgewerbemuseum in Berlin between 1868 and 1894 for use in the museum’s teach-ing institute, where artisans and decorative artists were trained. This collection of plaster casts played an important role at the institute. The teaching models included casts of architectural elements, arts-and-crafts objects and figurative sculptures, as well as casts taken from humans and animals. In the early 1900s these objects were integrated into the collection of the Gipsformerei.
