More model informationIndian Rock House is a small, heavily engraved rock shelter on the Western escarpment of Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau. The shelter contains historic as well as prehistoric engravings. The site contains mostly abstract images deeply engraved in the soft sandstone. There are, however, obvious yanic, human and plant images. One abstract “birdman” figure is reminiscent of art seen in Southern Native American iconography. The rock shelter is on private property and was visited and modeled with landowner permission. The shelter is 3.3 meters tall with about 6 meters of engraved wall.
