Indra, the Hindu and Buddhist god of thunder, here hurls a thunderbolt to defeat evil forces. I created the model of Indra using photogrammetry in PhotoScan Pro and Meshmixer; the original Nepalese statue is in the Rubin Museum in their exhibit “Relationship of Buddhist and Hindu Deities.” At right, the modified model of Indra “holds” a thunderbolt that I downloaded from @dkal titled “Zoom Ear Lightning.” I painted half of the Indra statue in gold, as it was originally gilt. Flanking Indra is a decorative lion medallion from Liao Dynasty China, mirrored. I made this model from an artifact in the Met (catalogue linked in annotation). As Indra is a guardian deity in Buddhism, here he is protecting an image of the Buddha, downloaded from @akhazaee titled “ELI 4 Tibetan Buddha obj.” As with Indra, I painted this image gold.
