Ingatorps tithe barn east gable.
This model shows the eastern gable. some shingles are removed and shows an underlying dovelhole. the rafters on the outside of the timber gable have oblong dovelholes. this could be seen first when the booards had been removed. the rafters are not connected in the top. the reason is that the carpenters in the 13 century was aware that the timbers would shrink. And if the rafters was fixed there would be gaps between the timbers. By letting the rafters also be able to follow the shrinking timbers this ws prevented! Photo and model Camilla Melin.
