More model information

This object from the collection of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses is a decorative brass inkwell and pen rest featuring a bust of Neptune, Roman God of the sea.

While the age of the object is unestablished, it was certainly used at the Bell Rock Lighthouse – some 12 miles off Arbroath – from at least 1910 until the station was modernised in 1963. It was kept in the station’s library which was located immediately below the lightroom.

The 3D model was created by the Scottish Maritime Museum as a part of the Scanning The Horizon project, working with collections from Industrial Museums Scotland (Go Industrial).
