Inscribed Stone - STATION ISLAND Lough Derg

An inscribed stone located on Station Island. The carving is weather worn and the inscription faded. An early sketch of the inscription suggests the letters are shown in the image below, which appears to be a ‘restored’ interpretation of the inscription. The stone is reshaped from the sketch with the top left now showing a diagonal break and the lower left showing damage to the face of the stone. However, it should be noted that the placement of letters in the image do not reflect the remaining identifiable letters, and the sketch should be treated as an artist’s interpretation of the stone and not a true representation.
