There was nothing glamorous about trench life. World War 1 trenches were dirty, smelly and riddled with disease. For soldiers, life in the trenches meant living in fear. In fear of diseases and of course, the constant fear of enemy attack. Men fought in war for honour and for their country. Not only fighting in a war, but fighting for their sanity, for their wellbeing and most importantly of all - for the hope to see their families again. To live in freedom and comfort…
We will never understand their pain, or their struggle. Be we respect their memory and are eternally grateful for their efforts to give us the life we enjoy today.
