More model informationThis medieval bone ring was discovered at Melrose Abbey in the 1980s.
It is carved with the letter ‘W’. It’s owner probably used it as a personal seal – the modern day equivalent of a signature. The images engraved on seal rings like this would have been completely unique, used to stamp documents and letters to mark the sender.
The lower half of this ring is missing.
