As part of the course “Digital Collections I” from the MA “Media and Digital Cultures” at University of Maastricht, the student Cristina Turbatu has created this model of a smartphone on top of a wireless charger.
In the last two decades, smartphones have rapidly evolved and are now an essential item for most people. A smartphone is not only a phone, but also a camera, computer, navigation and so much more combined in one. Phones can reflect the personality of its owner – whether it be through the preferred brand of phones, the colour or the case one uses.
Charging cables for phones create a barrier in flexibility when it comes to spontaneously using the phone. For many people – especially when they are in homeoffice – a wireless charger is of great importance. The phone is charging without a cable, which makes it easy to use the phone freely, without having to plug the cable in and out multiple times in a short time span.
