More model informationPiece of iron ore (originally thought to be haematite) from field walking near Darrington, West Yorkshire. This piece measures approx. 50 x 25 x 20 mm. Found together with cleanly broken end piece, revealing inner grey rectangular cross section, and giving an overall length of 65mm. Rough density measurement of 3 g/cm3 and streak test colour of brown suggest that it is not haematite, but another non-magnetic iron mineral. The shape seems unnaturally regular, and it bears similarity to early sharpening or anvil stones.
