More model informationFound in a spoil heap at Esk Valley Mine near Grosmont. In mid-19th century mining the hole for the gunpowder to blast the stone was made by ‘jumping’ a chisel ended metal bar into the rock face to create a deep hole. As technology advanced rotary drills were brought in to make the job much easier.
