Isla Picure Test Unit 1

The first 2x1m test pit opened on Isla Picure. Excavated with trowel and shovel, the stratigraphy is similar to TU02. This model depicts the trench before the discovery of the pit feature (CX106) just below the unexcavated western portion of this trench (CX103). CX104 in the eastern, excavated half of the trench is highly compacted and totally sterile. Note that this eastern half of the trench is less dessicated at this point in time than in the model of the pit feature, and as such has a more vibrant (oxidised?) colour to the soil.
