A pit feature in Test Unit 1 on Isla Picure, the only unambiguous sub-surface archaeological feature recorded in the 2016 fieldwork season. Cut is CX106 (into CX103 nearly to the depth of CX104), fill is CX105. Fill contained substantial quantities of ceramics with low fragmentation (about 4-5 nearly complete vessels of different pastes, tempers, and shapes), and some charcoal inclusions. CX106 was much looser than surrounding soil matrix, although compositionally identical (light brown silty sand) with light sub-rounded gravel/pebble inclusions and rooting. At the extreme right of image (looking north towards wall), the top of CX104 is visible, a highly weathered and compacted (possible) B horizon that remains unexcavated and was without cultural deposits. All sediment was screened with a 1/16 inch mesh. Centre of bottom of feature is 74 cm below arbitrary datum (64 cm BS).
