Possible candidate for the Lecale side of the old ferry that departed from Bankmore on the Portaferry side. In 1629 Lord Clandeboye regularised the service and made Valentine Payne responsible for maintaining a boat for the use of Patrick Savage. Might the Vale, of ‘Isle of Vale’ be linked to this Valintine Payne. The poximity of a possible stone navigation beacon also contributes to this being the possible location of this end of the ferry.
