Jacinto de Compostela Quartz (macro)3D ModelNoAI
Locality: Spain
No.: 4015
Size: 2.1 x 1 x 0.7 cm
Formula: SiO2
Description: Quartz is one of the most well-known minerals on earth. It occurs in basically all mineral environments and is the important constituent of many rocks. Quartz is also the most varied of all minerals, occurring in all different forms, habits, and colors. There are more varieties of names given to Quartz than any other mineral.
This is a beautiful floater biterminated Quartz crystal (var. Jacinto de Compostela) (hematoid Quartz) with a fantastic red color. It used to be thought that ‘Jacinto’-type Quartzes were colored by Hematite, but it has been determined that the color is dominantly due to clay mineral inclusions (Gil Marco J., 2013).
