Exposed in the cliffs are 10 million year old rocks from the Late Miocene aged Mount Messenger Formation. These sedimentary rocks formed on an ancient sea floor where they originally laid flat.
We can see the rocks and been bent and folded here, this happended to the rocks when they were part of an enourmous submarine landslide. This has left the rocks deformed in a variety of interesting ways.
