Jan Zizka (c. 1360–1424) was a Czech military leader and one of the most prominent figures of the Hussite Wars. He is best known for his innovative tactics, particularly his use of war wagons, which played a crucial role in the Hussite army’s success. Despite losing one eye in his youth and eventually becoming completely blind, Zizka remained an undefeated commander. He is celebrated as a national hero in the Czech Republic for his role in defending the Hussite movement and fighting against the forces of the Catholic Church and the Holy Roman Empire. The battle of Sudomer, where he led the Hussite forces to victory, is one of his most famous military achievements.
